Admissions
The Department offers courses leading to M.A., MPhil and Ph.D. in English Literature and Language. Candidates must possess the basic requirements for an honours degree in English and the general requirements stated in the Postgraduate School guidelines.
Admission Requirements UME (4-Year Programme)
Candidates for admission into the Department must satisfy the general requirements for admission into the university. In addition, they must have obtained, at least, a credit pass in Literature in English in the GCE O'Level or SSC examination. Candidate seeking admission through the UME must write the prescribed examinations in four subjects, which must include:

DIRECT ENTRY (3-Year Programme)
All applicants for admission into the 3-year programme must have obtained a pass in English Literature at the Advanced Level GCE, or at the Principal Level in the HSC examination or the NCE or IJMB examination, and in at least one other Arts subject.
