International Conference in Honour of Professor Obaro Ikime at 70
Theme: The Dynamics of Inter-group Relations in Nigeria Since 1960
The Department of History, University of Ibadan is pleased to announce an international conference in honour of PROFESSOR OBARO IKIME, a leading Nigerian historian, doyen of the Ibadan school of history and former Dean of Arts, University of Ibadan who turns 70 years in December 2006. Scholars and policy makers with interest in inter-group relations are invited to present academic papers around the following sub-themes:
Ø Concepts of Inter-group relations;
Ø Self-determination and inter-group relations;
Ø Conflicts and inter-group relations;
Ø Religion and inter-group relations;
Ø Resource control and inter-group relations;
Ø Geography and inter-group relations;
Ø Constitutional Development and inter-group relations;
Ø Women and Inter-group relations;
Ø Media and Inter-group relations;
Ø Military Rule and inter-group relations;
Ø Ethnic Militias and inter-group relations; and
Ø State Creation and inter-group relations
